Recent Metal Detecting Find in NS

Any ideas? Some friends and I found this at the site of a Loyalist homestead that was demolished many, many years ago. The area is now a large open field, so access time is very restricted.

Rob located this fairly near the surface, it is lead – and is amazing that it hasn’t been destroyed by the constant plowing and harrowing of the past 20 years.

It looks like a poppy – but I don’t think it is…

  1. Who was Samuel Vetch Bayard married to? He died in Wilmot in May of 1832, having been born in New York, the son of William Bayard. Do you have access to any records showing the name of his wife, whom he married in 1778.

    1. Hi – SVB was married twice.

He was initially Married to Catherine Van HORNE, who did not remain in NS (she was living in Halifax while SVB was in the Valley).

      Second, he married Sarah SIMMONS

She is buried at South Farmington, NS next to Samuel and some of the children.

Sorry – I don’t have the exact dates.
