Excellent Historical Website – Mapannapolis.ca

While researching online recently, I ‘discovered’ a website called mapannapolis.ca

I highly recommend you skip over to the site if you have an interest in the ancient homes of Annapolis County.

With my research on the physical history of Wilmot and Aylesford Townships, this type of a website (as a secondary source of information) is invaluable. The photographs attached to the various files on the individual buildings are small .png files, which when expanded quickly become pixelated, but the images are snapshots of the evolution of the places. The photographs seem to range from the late 1970’s to the early 2000’s.

As with any effort, there are some homes missing from the database. Some of the research presented in the files is third-person (oral or family) narrative, but this is very interesting.

With the rate of destruction of the ancient homes in the Valley, sites like this are valuable archives of a life that is long gone.
